Personal Profile
Rex has lived in North Swindon all his life. He has been married to Sandra for 46 years, they have 2 daughters and 4 grandchildren.
Rex is a very keen tennis player and a member of the Haydon Wick Bowls Club.
He is now retired but worked for the last 20 Years as Sales Manager for an engineering company.
Rex started his working life with the Railways at Swindon Works and served a 5 year apprenticeship as a Gas Fitter & Plumber. He was made redundant by Dr Beeching and then became involved in the building development of British Home Stores, Debenhams and the attached Hotel, the then NEW Princess Margaret Hospital and the modenerisation of the Barracks at Aldershot before moving into Engineering Sales.
Rex served as a Swindon Borough Councillor and Wiltshire County Councillor in the late 1960's and early 1970's until pressure of work forced him to stand down. He was a member of various committees: Highway's, Water and the Planning committee as the Vice-Chairman. He is a keen supporter of Plas Pencelli outdoor education centre.
Rex has recently become a Governor again at Greenmeadow Primary School having previously been Chairman of Haydon Wick & Greenmeadow Schools and a Governor of Headlands Grammar School.

Late 60s / early 70s - Swindon Borough Councillor, Wiltshire County Councillor and Haydon Wick Parish Councillor.

On the Borough Council Rex was Vice Chair of Planning, he was a Wiltshire County committee member of the then called Public Protection committee, the Fire Service & Police were under the wing of this committee. Amongst other committees Rex was on the water committee when Swindon provided it's own water.

Locally he was the Chairman of the Governors at Greenmeadow, Haydon Wick and Headlands School, when it was a Grammar School. The Parish Council Meetings were held in a classroom at Greenmeadow School.
