Road Works announced for Flood Alleviation Work
31 December 2008
The Council's Highways department has now published information on the road closures that will enable Thames Water (TW) to implement their flood alleviation scheme.
TW is planning to upsize and replace foul water sewers and laterals by open cut and insertion.
The work will take place in three stages - High Street to Thames Avenue; Thames Avenue to Pond Street including Blunsdon Road and Pond Street; Lady Lane to Blunsdon Road.
All this work will involve road closures and emergency traffic lights.
The closures will take place in stages commencing on or after 22 March
2009 and finishing no later than 30 April 2010.
Cllr David Renard said "These road closures will cause a great deal of disruption but they are necessary if we are to mitigate the potential of future flooding for those who have been unfortunate enough to be directly affected. I am sure that local residents will cooperate and be patient during, what I am sure will be, trying times.''
